Minister of health in Portugal Ana Jorge

 

Biography of portugese health minister (Ministra da Saude), Ana Maria Teodoro Jorge.

Licenciada em Medicina, em 1973, pela Universidade Classica de Lisboa. Especialista em Pediatria Medica em 1984.

Presidiu o Conselho de Administracao da Administracao Regional de Saude de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo (1997-2000) e coordenou a Sub-Regiao de Saude de Lisboa (1996/1997).

Foi Assistente Hospitalar de Pediatria Medica no Hospital de Dona Estefania e no Hospital Garcia de Orta. Foi Directora do Servico de Pediatria do Hospital Garcia de Orta, de Janeiro a Marco de 1996 e desde Junho de 2001 ate assumir as funcoes de Ministra da Saude.

Representou o Ministerio da Saude no Grupo de Trabalho conjunto com os Ministerios da Educacao e Seguranca Social para a problematica da Intervencao Precoce de 1994 a 1996.

Foi Assistente da Escola Nacional de Saude Publica (Saude Materna, Infantil, Escolar e Adolescentes) de 1985 a 1992 e monitora da cadeira de Terapeutica Geral da Faculdade de Medicina de Lisboa em 1973/74 e 1974/75.

Apresentou mais de cem comunicacoes e palestras e tem mais de trinta trabalhos publicados em diversas revistas.

Presidiu a Comissao de Etica do Hospital Garcia de Orta.

Pertenceu a Direccao do Colegio de Pediatria Medica da Ordem dos Medicos (1993-1998) e a Direccao Nacional da Liga Portuguesa Contra a Epilepsia (1987-1994), tendo presidido a Delegacao de Lisboa desta ultima (1994-1996). Foi membro da Direccao da Seccao de Desenvolvimento da Sociedade de Pediatria de 1994 a 1997. E Co-Coordenadora do Sector de Humanizacao do Instituto de Apoio a Crianca desde 1998.

Recebeu o Trofeu Pais e Filhos concedido pela revista Pais e Filhos em 1994. Integra a equipa de trabalho que recebeu 2.? Premio Sigma em 1986 com o trabalho Diarreias Agudas em Pediatria contributo para o seu estudo etiologico e clinico.
