Minister of health in Cuba Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera

Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera (born June 6, 1932 in Oriente, Cuba) is the current Minister for Health in CubaDiario Granma in Spanish. He is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and a member of the Council of State of Cuba. Balaguer was one of the six members of the Cuban Government designated by Fidel Castro in his transfer of duties on July 31, 2006

Nivel escolar: Superior. Ocupacion: Ministro de Salud Publica. Siendo estudiante de Medicina participo en huelgas y manifestaciones contra la tirania de Batista. En mayo de 1957 se une al grupo de hombres que Frank Pais enviaba a la Sierra Maestra. Al intentar crear un Segundo Frente, fue detenido en el central Miranda y guardo prision dos meses en la carcel de Boniato. En 1958 se suma a la compania B Pedro Soto Alba, en la columna 19, Segundo Frente Oriental Frank Pais. Al triunfo de la Revolucion ocupo distintos cargos en las FAR y el Ministerio de Salud Publica. Entre 1976 y 1985 ejercio el cargo de Primer Secretario del Comite Provincial del Partido en Santiago de Cuba. Resulto promovido al Secretariado del Comite Central. Es miembro del Buro Politico del Partido e integrante de su Comite Central desde 1975. Tambien diputado y miembro del Consejo de Estado. Municipio: Santiago de Cuba.

Geneva, 21 May 2009 An important symbolic step towards Forum 2009 Innovating for the health of all was taken during the World Health Assembly held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Indeed, Dr Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera, Minister of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba, and Professor Stephen Matlin, Executive Director of the Global Forum for Health Research, formalized the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding ensuring that the organization of the Forum can continue with the full backing of both parties.

The country is subdivided into 14 provinces and one special municipality (Isla de la Juventud). These were formerly part of six larger historical provinces: Pinar del Rio, Habana, Matanzas, Las Villas, Camaguey and Oriente. The present subdivisions closely resemble those of Spanish military provinces during the Cuban Wars of Independence, when the most troublesome areas were subdivided. The provinces are divided into municipalities.
