Minister of health in Switzerland Pascal Strupler


Director of the Federal Office of Public Health.

Pascal Strupler (born 1959). Law studies at the University of Bern (Licence 1986) followed by an IDHEAP Diploma (1991) obtained by part-time study at the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration in Lausanne.

In 1986 Pascal Strupler joined the Federal Tax Administration in the FDF. In 1990 he moved to what was then the Federal Office of Foreign Economic Affairs (now SECO; FDEA Federal Department of Economic Affairs) where he remained for 5 years. Between 1995 and 1998, in his capacity as section head at the Integration Office FDFA/FDEA (Departments of Financial Affairs and Economic Affairs), he participated in numerous delegations involved in the bilateral negotiations between Switzerland and the EU and was head of the Swiss delegation at EUREKA (European Research Coordination Agency). Between 1998 and the beginning of 2003 Pascal Strupler was personal advisor to Federal Councillor Pascal Couchepin at the FDEA and the FDHA (Federal Department of Home Affairs). Between February 2003 and December 2009 he was Secretary-General of the FDHA. He became Director of the Federal Office of Public Health on 1 January 2010.

Pascal Strupler is married and lives in Bern.
