Minister of health in Bangladesh Mozibur Rahman Fakir


Dr. Captain (Retd.) Mozibur Rahman Fakir, MP, the State Minister for the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh was born in an aristocratic family on 01 January 1947 in the Mymensingh District of Bangladesh. He acquired his MBBS degree from Mymensingh Medical College in 1970. He had active participation in the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971 as a dedicated freedom fighter. He was elected member of national parliament of Bangladesh twice, first in 2001 and then in 2008. In the younger professional life, he served under the Government of Malaysia as the Civil Surgeon (District Health Manager) for about 5 years and then he returned home and contributed his life for the health care of the rural people in his local area. He has a privately owned clinic in Mymensingh District Town from which he also distributes free medical care to the poor and marginal people of his area. He is the member of many professional bodies, like Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Shadinota Chikitshok Parishad (Independence Physicians Association), Bangladesh Private Medical Practioners Association, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, National Tuberculosis Program etc. Married with Dr Nasima Anowar, he is the proud father of three daughters.
